Welcome to Café d'Alsace, a charming French restaurant nestled in the heart of the Upper East Side, New York. With its warm ambiance and deliciously crafted menu, this eatery transports you straight to the bistros of France, offering a delightful culinary experience that is both authentic and inviting.

Café d'Alsace specializes in traditional French cuisine, showcasing a selection of gourmet dishes that highlight the rich flavors and textures of the region. Begin your meal with the French Onion Soup, known for its rich, caramelized onions and perfectly melted cheese, a dish that many patrons claim rivals even those found in Paris! For a special treat, the Choucroute Garnie makes a remarkable choice, celebrated for its hearty amalgamation of flavors that will surely satisfy.

The cheese selection is a highlight not to be missed. Savor the Délice de Bourgogne, a rich and nutty triple cream delight, or the sharp flavors of Roquefort that perfectly complement the house-made accompaniments. Other popular dishes include the Croque Madame, a perfect blend of griddled bistro ham, melted Gruyère, and a sunny-side egg, all paired beautifully with crunchy French fries and a fresh mixed greens salad. Don't overlook the salads, like the Black Angus Steak Salad, which is a hearty yet refreshing choice, topped with white truffle oil for an exquisite finish.

The atmosphere at Café d'Alsace is both vibrant and cozy. Diners luxuriate in a thoughtfully designed space that combines French elegance with a welcoming vibe. Whether you choose to dine indoors amidst the chic décor or opt for the lovely outdoor seating, you’ll find the perfect setting to enjoy your meal. Especially during weekends or special occasions like Mother’s Day, the café has an unmistakable charm, making it ideal for gatherings or a casual brunch with friends.

Customer experiences echo the restaurant's steadfast dedication to quality service and exceptional food. One happy diner, Lael M, praised the “delicious food” and noted the attentive and friendly service provided by their server, Justin, creating an overall delightful dining experience. Another regular, Waverly Winchester, has been visiting Café d'Alsace for over 17 years, consistently raving about its incredible French Onion Soup and inviting atmosphere. We had the early dinner prix fixe which was super worth it! Food was delicious, cocktails were great and the vibe is approachable but still elevated. Justin took care of our table and he was attentive and friendly, he made sure we had the complete menu and was very educated on the specials. We’d love to come back!

Cafe D''Alsace is the best!! The food is incredible and you will not find better French Onion Soup anywhere, even in Paris. I have been coming here for 17 years and it has stayed just as amazing as when it opened. Beautiful atmosphere and excellent service, always. David M. is an amazing server also!

Cafe d'Alsace is a fantastic French restaurant on the Upper East Side of Manhattan! I visited for the first time this week with friends, and we had an amazing experience!! The atmosphere inside of Cafe d'Alsace is warm & inviting, and the staff are incredibly kind. Specifically, Edgar took excellent care of my group during our visit! :-) Their food + cocktails are delicious. For drinks, their Smoky Paloma is SO good (I highly recommend if you're looking for something within the realm of a tequila/mezcal base). For food, we all tried their Early Dinner Prix Fixe. For a starter, their Butternut Squash Soupe du Jour was a 10/10. For a main, their Grilled Scottish Salmon was so, so delicious (I added a side of their mashed potatoes as well, which was a great choice)!! For dessert, their Homemade Ice Cream & Sorbet were excellent closures to each of our meals. This is a great spot on the UES, definitely go see them!

Relocated from the corner, the new restaurant is nice. Ebullient atmosphere during this review on a Thursday evening. Booths very narrow for groups of four commensals. The food is exquisite, ranging from heavier dishes to lighter fare. Several beers on tap, including some impressive domestics.

My son and his fiance brought me here for brunch on Mothers Day. The cafe was super cute with dining inside and out. We ate outside. The chef really knows what their doing because everything was amazing and was prepared and cooked to perfection! Plus we couldn't get enough of their fresh bread and preserves

Great choucroute garnie! Not something you see over here too often. Fabulous wine list. Great service from Steve. Looking forward to returning.

Eggs Benedict here with the bistro ham First one was cooked to perfection, the second one had less yolk or was cooked more, but overall good egg dip. You can ask for bread from the wait staff! Came with a light salad of mixed greens and rosemary potatoes. Both were seasoned just right and went well with the eggs benny. Brioche French toast was fluffy and soft, would highly recommend! The shakshuka was mild for the non-spice members of the party. Ambiance was nice and cozy, thought it was going to be stiff fancy but it was casual and laid back. Would come back again!
